What are template features?

Some of our templates include special features that enhance or change the way they work. For example, a website template may include the Rollovers feature that makes buttons appear to 'light up' when you hover your mouse cursor over them.

Rollovers

This is an effect that makes buttons almost appear to light up when hovered over by the mouse cursor. The effect is accomplished by having two images per button (an "off" image and an "over" image) and swapping the images depending on the cursor location.

DHTML

Aside from rollovers, some templates may include additonal dynamic or interactive features such as drop down menus or rotating images. Please read the template's description for information on what specific DHTML features it includes.

Frames

Most of our website templates use only tables (or CSS-positioned DIVs) to handle their layout and organization. However, templates with this feature also use frames to some extent. The specific use of frames for a given template can be found in the template's description.

Dynamic Width

Web surfers tend to use a variety of different screen sizes (or resolutions). Common ones are 800x600 and 1024x768, but some use 640x480, 1280x1024, or even 1600x1200. The difference in resolution affects how much screen space is available for your page. Higher resolutions provide more screen space, while lower resolutions provide less.

The Dynamic Width feature makes the template fill up the full width of the browser regardless of screen resolution. The picture below shows the difference between a template that has this feature and one that does not.

Login form

Templates with this feature include an integrated user login form, which is generally composed of a username input box and a password input box. This is useful if you plan to have a restricted member/user area.

Note that the template only includes the form to input the username and password. The actual logging in process requires the use of an external script which is not included with the template.

Search form

Templates with this feature include an integrated search form. This is useful if you plan to provide a search facility on your site.

Note that the template only includes the form to input search keywords. The actual search process requires the use of an external script which is not included with the template.

Flash

Templates with this feature include Flash™ elements. This may be in the form of buttons, interfaces, or headers made entirely in Flash.

Fixed Height

The majority of our templates expand vertically to accommodate large amounts of content. This is accomplished by stretching certain parts of the design vertically as needed. Templates with the Fixed Height feature, however, do not stretch and remain at a constant height. Instead of stretching, additional content is accommodated using a vertical CSS scrollbar, which is activated when there is too much content to fit within the content area.
